Vision

The Department of Applied Economics at Fo Guang University goes beyond traditional learning, emphasizing applicability and professionalism, supported by abundant university resources. During their four years, students build strong theoretical foundations in the first two years and engage in diverse practical applications in the latter two.
Through our comprehensive curriculum, we aim to cultivate students’ confidence and expertise, opening doors to further academic pursuits or direct entry into the workforce.

Financial Management Track

Unlike traditional economics departments, our program places greater emphasis on practical applications in business and management. As economics is the foundation of business disciplines, students gain a more analytical and professional understanding of financial and international markets, learning how to make informed, rational decisions under resource constraints.

Under our “grouped admission, unified curriculum” model, students may pursue either the Financial Management or International Business program while gaining foundational knowledge in economics. Our curriculum is designed to move past theoretical calculations, focusing on practical application, interdisciplinary thinking, and real-world experience, preparing students for diverse careers in business.

We provide full support in obtaining industry-recognized licenses, integrating certification preparation into coursework, and offering personal guidance throughout the process. Internship opportunities are available across finance, banking, securities, futures, and insurance industries, with flexibility to match placements near students’ residences.

Comprehensive pathways are available for students who wish to pursue advanced degrees through the 5-Year Integrated Master’s Program, and our in-service master’s program remains popular with professionals, with stable yearly enrollments.
Our student association actively organizes events such as orientation camps, welcome parties, Christmas activities, and Economics Week, as well as off-campus visits and themed lectures—enriching campus life and fostering a strong sense of community.
